Lake Schooner Trip

We're headed to Lake Schooner for some canoe camping. The lake is in Ontario, near the town of Plevna. On this expedition are Rish, Christy, DK, Tup, Stacey, and myself. This is a map of Lake Schooner and the surrounding roads. Notice there are actually two lakes!

Stocking up supplies at the Barn. We're concerned about bears, so we rented three large bear-proof canisters.

Our Ithaca hosts, Christy and Rishard. I'd say they make a good looking couple, except Rishard is in the picture.

Stacey is looking happy! We're loading on the canoes from an outfitter in Kingston. Those things are huge!

We arrive at the lake. First night, we'll camp on the shore at road's end.

Tupou fiddles with our fishing gear. With a highly stable and calm personality, Tup helps maintain a laid-back atmosphere to the trip.

Inside the mothership, DK prepares his optical equipment for the day's adventure.

How the hell do you use this thing?

We rented some old stoves from Cornell. They took some getting used to, but were actually quite powerful.

The crew (minus DK). Despite clouds and a slight drizzle, it looks like people are having fun.

We're off! The canoes and scenery remind me of Last of the Mohicans.

Pitstop.
